Just us Girls

Things have changed since I was a teenager in the 1960's. My mom always pushed me to go to college, because she was unable to. Her parents, my grandparents, could only afford to send one child, and thought it more important to send their son, than their daughter. After all, my mom would have a man to take care of her. Well... it didn't quite work out like that. My dad died suddenly when he was 34, leaving my mom with no insurance and two children to raise. So while the message I heard was, Go to College, it was implied that i should go to find a husband. I never gave any thought to a career. And get a husband I did. I worked to put him through graduate school. He is a successful businessman, and I have been a stay at home mom. Now we are divorced, something that should have happened years ago, but, I had three children to consider. My oldest and my daughter, who recently graduated from college, didn't get my message to her which was, get a degree that can get you a job. Don't be dependent on a man.

While women are over 50% of the population, we are very under represented here on the Internet. Especially, women over 30, in my opinion. I think most of us are scared of computers... but there is no reason to be. There are thousands of us online. There are thousands of of sites for us, with great information. The purpose of this page is to point out some of these sites to other women. This is my no means a complete list. It now contains sites I have found useful, and I will continue searching. This is a work in progress, and will never be complete or completed.

Here are some links I have collected for women to help them find themselves.
